In this oil landscape workshop, Richard McKinley will teach you the techniques and fundamentals necessary to create a successful Plein Air painting in oil. Emphasis will be placed on building a solid composition, seeing and relating value masses properly, and creating color harmony. The basics of working with oil paint from a limited palette layout, to the final touches with a painting knife will be covered. Each day will consist of informative discussions, demonstrations and individual attention at your easel.

Richard McKinley has been a professional working artist for 35 years and has over 30 years of teaching experience. He is a Signature Member of the PSA and a 2010 inductee into their Hall of Fame, NWPS and PSO: and Signature Distinguished Pastelist with the PSWC and a member of the Oil Painters of America. His work is represented in several national galleries and he is a frequent contributing editor for the Pastel Journal. Richard's work has been included in several books, most recently, A Painters Guide to Design and Composition, by Margot Schulzke and Pure Color, the Best of Pastel, edited by Maureen Bloomfield and James A. Markle, both published by North Light. Richard is currently doing a weekly blog for the Pastel Journal magazine titled 'Pastel Pointers' and is the Dakota Art Pastels catalog cover artist for 2008-2009.
