Plein Air Pastels & Oils

September 23-27
All Levels $565

This workshop will cover the fundamentals of landscape painting with pastel & oil, including composition, values, masses, focal point, edges, drawing and color. You will be outdoors every day working on location creating small field studies. There will be ample time to paint with lots of individual attention at the easel, discussion and individual critiques. Lorenzo believes that working from life is the best way to gain the skills and knowledge to improve your landscape work. This is a great opportunity to work with a gifted landscape artist during one of the most beautiful times of the year in the Skagit Valley.

Lorenzo Chavez studied at the Colorado Institute of Art and the Art Students League of Denver. Intensive private study of the Impressionists and 19th century American and Russian painters have made him aware of the wonderful possibilities and importance of painting from life. Lorenzo shows in national invitational exhibitions across the country, including the Pastel Society of America, Artists of America, C.M. Russell Museum, Laguna Art Museum, Landscapes of the American West, and Plein Air Painters of America to name a few. Lorenzo's work has been featured in several magazines, including Art of the West, Southwest Art, Pastel Journal, Art-Talk, and American Artist. He was cover artist for The Artist's Magazine. In 2006, he was included in three books, Pure Color; The Best of Pastel published by Northlight Books and The Plein Air Year published by Jack Richeson Books and Colorado Landscapes.
